Abstract: In clinical practice, general practitioners frequently encounter patients with medically unexplained symptoms (MUS),which evoke a great challenge for both diagnosis and management. In this paper,we presented a case of generalized involuntary muscle beating over a duration of 2 months admitted to Department of Family Medicine, the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital on July 13,2019.The diagnostic and therapeutic process of this case demonstrated routine application of biopsychosocial model in primary care, and a systematic approach incorporating the 4P model(namely, predisposing, precipitating, perpetuating and protective factors)to history taking, finding the clues and collecting the evidence that helps to explain the symptoms to the patient in an assuring way, facilitate active management, improve clinical outcome, and ultimately deliver whole-person care.
